A fog advisory is in effect for Greater Victoria, Eastern Vancouver Island from Duncan to Campbell River, inland Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands.
Environment Canada issued the alert on Wednesday evening.
Advisories are issued when near visibility in fog is expected or occurring.
The agency says a ridge of high pressure will persist over the province this week and moisture trapped under a strong temperature inversion will result in extensive areas of dense fog on Wednesday night.
The fog will likely dissipate or become patchy during the afternoons, particularly away from the water.
“If travelling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility,” the advisory reads.
