First government-run BC Cannabis Store on Vancouver Island opens in Campbell River

The first government-run BC Cannabis Store on Vancouver Island has opened in Campbell River.

A small crowd was gathered outside the location at Discovery Harbour Shopping Centre on Island Highway for the occasion on Wednesday at 10 a..m.

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch says the store will offer products including dried cannabis flower, oils, capsules and pre-rolls approved by Health Canada.

“We are looking forward to opening a BC Cannabis Store in Campbell River, as we continue our efforts to rollout our network of retail stores and service the province,” said Kevin Satterfield, Director of Retail Operations, Cannabis Operations. “

The Campbell River location will be staffed by 16 employees.

Regular operating hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Another new government-run BC Cannabis Store opened on Wednesday in Cranbrook, B.C.  There are two other stores currently operating in Kamloops.

BC Cannabis also sells it’s products online.

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch says 15 government-run cannabis stores will be open across the province before the end of the year.
