Certain sections of southern Vancouver Island could see wet snow tomorrow.

Environment Canada says a low-pressure system crossing over Washington state will bring “abundant moisture” to the region that could result in heavy wet snow on Monday in areas at elevations above 150 metres.

A special weather statement has been issued for the following areas: Greater Victoria, Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay, Duncan to Nanaimo, Malahat Highway – Goldstream to Mill Bay, and the Southern Gulf Islands.

“Areas with the heaviest precipitation will see the heavy rain switch over to heavy wet snow above about 150 metres during the day. Mixed rain and snow is even possible at sea level,” the weather agency said in a statement posted online.

As a result, Environment Canada is reminding motorists that weather in mountainous regions can change suddenly, resulting in dangerous driving conditions.
