If you live in the northern part of Vancouver Island, you can expect it to be windy today, if it isn’t already.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for North Vancouver Island stating that a frontal system is approaching the region and that winds speeds are expected to reach 90 km/h over exposed coastal sections later today.

“Winds will rise to southeast 90 km/h over exposed coastal sections of northern Vancouver Island late this evening and to 70 to 100 km/h over Haida Gwaii after midnight,” the weather agency said in a bulletin on its website.

Environment Canada says the strong winds may cause damage in certain areas.

Winds are expected to ease late overnight.
