A wind warning has been issued by Environment Canada for the northern region of Vancouver Island, slated to end Wednesday morning.

A wind warning has been issued by Environment Canada for the northern regions of Vancouver Island.

According to the weather agency, strong winds that may cause damage are expected to hit North Vancouver Island on Tuesday, Dec. 29.

Environment Canada says that southeast winds of up to 90 km/h are expected to hit exposed coastal sections late this evening.

The agency notes that a frontal system is approaching North Vancouver Island and the Central Coast of British Columbia.

Environment Canada believes that the strong winds will ease by Wednesday morning.

“High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break,” says Environment Canada.

The latest wind advisory comes just a handful of days after Environment Canada issued a North Vancouver Island wind warning on Christmas Eve.

Alerts and forecasts can be monitored on the weather agency’s website.
