Two people were arrested earlier in March after drugs and cash were found during a traffic stop in Langford.

On March 1, a West Shore RCMP officer stopped a vehicle for speeding near the West Shore Parkway and Commander Court intersection.

According to West Shore RCMP, the officer is an experienced drug investigator and became suspicious of both the vehicle and the two occupants. The vehicle and the two people were searched. Police seized more than $1,200 in cash and 18 grams of crack-cocaine. Police also seized other suspected drugs, including ecstasy.

The two people were arrested for possession of a controlled substance. The passenger, a 20-year-old man, was released under a promise to appear. The driver was released without charges.

Police are still investigating and say neither occupant was from the West Shore area.

This is excellent work done by one of our General Duty officers. Getting drugs off the street and keeping our community safe is a priority for us in the West Shore,” Const. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP media relations officer, said.
