A driver received a $196 ticket after his minivan ended up on a beach in Oak Bay.
Police say a driver was sober when he mounted a sidewalk curb and landed on top of a pile of sandy logs at Willows Beach in Oak Bay.
Oak Bay Police said they received a call about a suspicious vehicle on Sunday evening. An officer went to the area and saw minivan was on the beach at the north end of Esplanade.
The man was reportedly turning in the roundabout when he accidentally pressed the gas pedal out of turn and jumped the sidewalk curb onto the beach. The minivan ended up on a pile of logs, several metres away from the elevated sidewalk.
