An investigation is underway after a female driver crashed a car into a school fence before fleeing on foot early Saturday morning, according to Saanich Police.
Officers responded to Spectrum Community School on Burnside Road at 12:15 a.m. to find a Volkswagen Golf off-roaded and facing the street, with its front end on top of a chain link fence.
“A witness reported seeing the female driver run away from the scene,” Const. Markus Anastasiades, communications officer with Saanich Police, told CHEK News.
Officers were then able to locate the female at a home a short distance away, according to Anastasiades, who says police have yet to lay any charges against her.
“We have ruled out impairment by alcohol or drug as contributing factors,” he added.
