Driver fined more than $500 after getting stuck in creek near Nanaimo

The driver of a pickup was fined nearly $600 after they got stuck in a creek while off-roading near Nanaimo.

The driver of a pickup truck was fined nearly $600 after they got stuck in a creek while off-roading near Nanaimo.

According to the B.C. Conservation Officer Service, officers were recently out on campfire ban patrols when they came across a Dodge pickup truck stuck in Haslam Creek, south of Nanaimo.

In a social post dated July 30, the conservation service says officers could see Salmon fry swimming around the truck.

As a result, the driver of the truck was issued a $575 ticket for unauthorized activity resulting in damage to the environment as well as a backcountry tow bill.
