Crews rescue two Americans on sinking boat after striking reef near Oak Bay

Two people from the U.S. were rescued in waters near Oak Bay marina their boat hit a reef. There were no injuries.

Two Americans are uninjured after they hit a reef on a boat that started sinking near Oak Bay Wednesday morning.

Crews from Search and Rescue, Canadian Coast Guard, C-Tow responded after harbour patrol and another boat was first on the scene to help the two on board the sinking ship.

Officials say they were on their way to Orcas Island, part of the San Juan Islands when the incident occurred.

Authorities said it took a half-hour to get the boat towed back to Oak Bay Marina.
