CHEK

Langford Fire Rescue crews contained a quickly-spreading brush fire on Skirt Mountain Wednesday afternoon.

The blaze broke out on steep terrain about 200 metres in from Bear Mountain Parkway around 12:30pm.

The Costal Fire Centre sent a helicopter with an initial attack crew and fire officer to assist, but Langford firefighters were able to get the flames contained by around 2pm, after the fire scorched through roughly a third of a hectare.
