The Capital Regional District has issued a boil water advisory for the Wilderness Mountain Water Service Area in East Sooke.

The CRD says the system provides drinking water to 71 residential lots near the top of Mount Matheson.

The advisory comes after consultation with Island Health.

“The treated water turbidity is elevated as a result of high turbidity water originating from the surface water source Wilfred Reservoir,” a CRD release said.

“Residents in the impacted area should boil their drinking water until further notice.”

Customers in the affected area are advised by the CRD to boil water vigorously for one minute.

The advisory will be lifted when Island Health provides an ‘ALL CLEAR’ notice when officials are satisfied the drinking water does not pose a health concern.
