Mounties are seeking help from the public to identify two people believed to have stolen a pair of black backpacks at Comox Wharf.
Around 5:30 p.m. June 14, two local youth left their backpacks “in what they thought was a safe location to stay dry while they enjoyed an evening of fishing,” according to Comox Valley RCMP.
When they were finished, they noticed both backpacks were gone, and surveillance footage showed a man and a woman grabbing and walking away with the backpacks.
The man, who at the time was wearing a bright red T-shirt and jeans, is described as middle-aged with short brown hair. The woman was wearing a T-shirt and ripped jeans and is described as middle-aged with long brown hair.
Comox Valley RCMP media relations officer Const. Monika Terragni says police take incidents like this seriously, especially when local youth are impacted.
“We are counting on the public to assist with identifying these suspects so that we can move our investigation forward and potentially get these backpacks back to their owners,” said Terragni in a release Tuesday.
Anyone who knows the identity of the suspects or has information about the incident is asked to call RCMP at 250-338-1321 and reference file #2023-9224.
