Come From Away, the Canadian Tony Award-winning musical, is set to take the stage at Victoria's Royal Theatre from May 10 to 21, 2023.

Victoria theatre-goers can catch a broadway production without travelling to New York City when Come From Away brings its national tour to town this spring for a limited engagement.

The Canadian Tony Award-winning musical is set to take the stage at the Royal Theatre on Broughton Street from May 10 to 21, 2023, according to Broadway In Victoria.

The company, established to bring broadway productions to B.C.’s capital, says it’s thrilled to announce its return to live theatre with Come From Away.

Originally produced for the Canadian Music Theatre Project, the musical is based on actual events and tells the story of the nearly 7,000 airplane passengers stranded in a small Newfoundland town on Sept. 11, 2001.

“Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships,” reads the show’s synopsis.

Along with a Tony Award for “Best Direction of a Musical,” Come From Away has also scored several Olivier Awards, Outer Critics Circle Awards and Drama Desk Awards.

According to Broadway In Victoria, the musical’s touring production features a scenic on-stage design and stars Marika Aubrey, Kevin Carolan, Harter Clingman and Nick Duckart, to name a few.

Tickets go on sale next Thursday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. online at RMTS.BC.ca and at both the Royal and McPherson Theatre box offices.
