A man with a history of sexual offences, including some against children, was arrested at Gonzales Beach Friday for violating court-ordered conditions, according to Victoria police.
In a statement, police say Community Services Division (CSD) officers were called to the beach by an off-duty VicPD officer just before 5 p.m.
The off-duty officer recognized the man and called for on-duty officers to assist, knowing the man had court-ordered conditions barring him from public beaches and being in close proximity to children.
Officers arrived and arrested the man. They say the man initially fought with officers before being taken into custody, but no one was injured.
Police say the man was held in custody and faces two recommended charges for breaching court-ordered conditions.
VicPD is asking the public if they have information about the incident to call them 250-995-7654 extension 1.
