CHEK Upside: Three sets of brothers racing in Canada 200

WatchThree sets of brothers will battle to win the Canada 200 live Sunday on CHEK.

This Sunday’s Canada 200 will feature a high-speed edition of Family Feud, with three pairs of brothers entered.

Dale and Geoff Robinson have both taken time out of the driver’s seat the past few years but will make their return to racing together this weekend. Dale’s son Tyler will also be in the race, making it a hat-trick of Robinsons.

“Dale and Tyler they’re good, good racers, been in it for a while, Tyler’s up and coming and it’s really great to see him have an opportunity,” says Geoff. “I hope that we can all have a good run.”

“This is a dream of a lifetime here. It’s part of my bucket list you know just to race my kid just once and I don’t really want to drive, just this one chance,” says Dale, who hasn’t raced a car since 2011.

“It’s going to be great cause it’s kind of been a dream of ours to race against each other,” says Tyler, who will be making his Canada 200 debut.

Another racing family is the Haslams. Dad Roy has the most Canada 200 wins at five wins and while he might be retired, his son’s Robbie and Mike will continue the Haslam legacy on Sunday.

“My family and my dad and my brother have done a lot of work to this car, says Robbie.

“Me and Mike we have twin cars, I painted the hood black so that way if I run into somebody hopefully they think it’s him and they take him out not me,” he jokes.

Finally, the Carlson family will be well represented, with younger brother Spencer finishing second in last year’s race. While he grew up watching his older brother Brandon race, if it comes down to a last-lap shootout, the holidays might get a bit awkward.

“Christmas dinner might get awkward but he’ll understand,” smiles Spencer.

“Oh Thanksgiving for sure, I’m betting laundry day at my house on Monday might be a fistfight,” adds Brandon. “If it comes down to a shootout for me that will just be awesome because that’s two cars in the top two out of our house.”

Canada 200 coverage starts on CHEK at 6 with the documentary “Before I’m Gone”, followed by the Canada 200 pre-race show at 7.

Live at 6 p.m. PDT Sept. 6 on CHEK: The world premiere of the Before I'm Gone documentary, immediately followed by live coverage of Western Speedway’s Shockwave Seats Canada 200 at 7 p.m.
