Central Saanich Police looking for tips on boat thieves

Central Saanich Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two people who stole a dinghy and were captured on security camera in late June.

According to police, the pair arrived at Angler’s Anchorage Marina in Brentwood Bay in the boat pictured below, skipped paying the mooring fee, then stole the white fiberglass Backwater Classic dinghy on June 23.

The stolen boat is seven feet long (2.1 metres), with no writing or markings on it, no oars, and a 3″ by 18″ air pocket on each side of the hull. The theft happened at about 6:10 p.m.

Anyone who knows the suspects or where the boat is located are asked to contact Central Saanich Police or reach out anonymously to Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. The public can also submit a tip online here.
