Get ready to look to the skies.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds are back on Vancouver Island from April 18 to May 12, 2023, when they’ll be conducting spring training out of CFB Comox, a spokesperson tells CHEK News.

On Tuesday, the team released an initial 2023 show schedule with stops in all 10 provinces, including British Columbia where they’re set to perform at the Abbotsford International Airshow from Aug. 11-13.

They won’t be flying over the territories, however.

“Canadian summers are quite short and we sadly don’t have the time to do the whole country in one year. Our planners and coordinators are currently working on including the territories in the near future but we do not have any planned appearances in the north in 2023,” reads a statement on Facebook.

The Snowbirds, or 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, are a group of approximately 80 Canadian Armed Forces personnel, including pilots and aircraft technicians, who spend the winter months at their home base in Moose Jaw, Sask., practicing their skills for the upcoming season.

Their popular aerobatic display, the result of several months of preparation, consists of over 50 different formations and maneuvers in modified CT-114 Tutor aircraft that leave audiences amused year after year.
