One camper’s fire in a prohibited area has cost him over $1,000.
West Shore RCMP have issued a fine to a camper who they found in an undesignated site with a campfire going. The man received a $1,150 ticket for violation of the Wildfire Act for Light, Fuel or Use a Fire Against Regulations.
The undesignated campsite was located in the area of Mill Hill Regional Park where all fires are prohibited.
We all play a role in protecting our communities from wildfire risk. The potential for wildfire is increased with the summer season and is currently rated as high in Southern Vancouver Island.,
