West Shore RCMP have issued a fine to a camper who they found in an undesignated site with a campfire going.

One camper’s fire in a prohibited area has cost him over $1,000.

West Shore RCMP have issued a fine to a camper who they found in an undesignated site with a campfire going. The man received a $1,150 ticket for violation of the Wildfire Act for Light, Fuel or Use a Fire Against Regulations.

The undesignated campsite was located in the area of Mill Hill Regional Park where all fires are prohibited.

We all play a role in protecting our communities from wildfire risk. The potential for wildfire is increased with the summer season and is currently rated as high in Southern Vancouver Island., said Const. Nancy Saggar in a press release.
