A woman on Vancouver Island is facing multiple charges related to firearm offences following an alleged incident earlier this month.

Campbell River RCMP say they received reports about an individual inside a truck who was seen pointing a firearm at another person in the city’s downtown area at around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 5.

Despite numerous officers responding, the suspected vehicle was stopped by police roughly five kilometres away on Rockland Road near Dogwood Street.

Inside the vehicle, Campbell River RCMP say officers discovered — and later seized — a fully loaded semi-automatic .22 cal pistol that had been reported stolen earlier this year, as well as a small quantity of fentanyl and cocaine.

As a result of the seizure, an unidentified 35-year-old Campbell River woman is now facing charges for firearms-related offences.

All parties involved in the alleged incident were known to each other, according to Campbell River RCMP.
