Residents in the Lyall Harbour and Boot Cove areas of Saturna Island are being asked to boil their drinking water until further notice.

The Capital Regional District has issued a boil water advisory for the Lyall Harbour Boot Cove Water Service Area, which includes 153 residential lots near Lyall Harbour, Boot Cove and Plumper Sound, due to elevated treated water turbidity.

“During the boil water advisory, household tap water may be disinfected by boiling it vigorously for 1 minute,” the CRD said in a statement on its website.

The advisory will only be removed when Island Health is satisfied that the drinking water does not pose a health concern.
