A man who went missing late last month has been found dead in Port Alberni.

According to a July 9 media release issued by the Port Alberni RCMP, the body of a 47-year-old man who was reported missing to them on June 30 has been located.

Jeff Buck, 47, was last seen near a motel on Third Avenue on June 27, according to an earlier media release.

Port Alberni RCMP confirmed that Buck’s body that was discovered in an area not far from where he was last seen and said criminality is not suspected in his death.

The Alberni Valley Rescue Squad and RCMP Air Services had assisted in the search for Buck.

“Our thoughts are with man’s family and friends during this difficult time,” Sgt. Clive Seabrook of the Port Alberni RCMP, said in the media release.

The BC Coroners Service is investigating to determine, how, where, and when and by what means the man died, the release noted.
