Multiple Sunday sailings to and from Vancouver Island have been cancelled.
BC Ferries announced that it has cancelled multiple afternoon and evening sailings on major routes including Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay, Horseshoe Bay-Departure Bay, and Tsawwassen-Duke Point due to high winds.
Environment Canada is forecasting wind speeds of up to 90 km/h throughout Sunday. The weather agency has issued a wind warning for Greater Victoria and special weather statements for eastern Vancouver Island.
“The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us. We don’t take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations. We will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so,” BC Ferries said in a statement on its website.

BC Ferries says customers with a reservation, who have not yet checked in, will be advised of the cancellation and their reservation fees will be automatically refunded.
