The Queen of Alberni is facing a trio of sailing cancellations on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

BC Ferries has scrapped several sailings between Vancouver Island and the Mainland Tuesday due to a mechanical difficulty on the Queen of Alberni.

In a service notice, the company says the 12:45 and 10:45 p.m. sailings departing Duke Point (Nanaimo) and the 8:15 p.m. leaving Tsawwassen (Delta) have been cancelled.

The vessel’s main engine is currently undergoing repair as crews work to resolve the problem, according to BC Ferries in its notice.

It says the 3:15 p.m. departing Tsawwassen and the 5:45 p.m. departing Duke Point, meanwhile, are no longer at risk of cancellation Tuesday with the Coastal Inspiration providing service for one round trip.

Customers impacted by cancellations will be refunded, BC Ferries says.

“Our Customer Service Centre will contact customers with bookings on these cancelled sailings to let them know if we have space available to fit them on the next available sailing or if their booking must be cancelled,” it said.

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of this cancellation.”
