British Columbia health officials on Tuesday reported 457 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths since their last update on Oct. 25.

The number of confirmed cases in B.C. is now at 202,973 while the death toll climbs to 2,131.

Of the new cases identified since yesterday’s update, 55 were in Island Health, 61 were in Vancouver Coastal Health, 176 were in Fraser Health, 83 were in Interior Health, and 82 were in Northern Health.

There are currently 4,829 active cases in the province and 390 people in hospital — 155 of whom are in intensive care.

Provincial health officials say there are 579 active cases in the Island Health region. However, according to the latest dashboard update from Island Health, there are 451 active cases — 47 in North Island, 259 in Central Island, and 145 in South Island — in the region.

There are often discrepancies in the two figures due to “differences in reporting” timeframes between the two agencies.

A total of 195,646 people in B.C. have recovered from COVID-19 while 8,171,136 doses of vaccine have been administered province-wide.

Today’s data was released as a statement to the media.
