B.C. reports reports an estimated 2,086 new COVID-19 cases, 21 deaths

British Columbia health officials are reporting 2,086 new cases of COVID-19 and 21 deaths, with the number of hospitalizations edging down after reaching record numbers.

Of the 21 deaths, five were in Island Health, six were in Vancouver Coastal Health and 10 were in Fraser Health.

As for the new cases, 780 were reported in Fraser Health, 464 were in Vancouver Coastal Health, 455 in Interior Health, 168 in Northern Health and 219 in Island Health.

B.C. cautioned that the number of total and new cases were provisional due to a “delayed data refresh.”

There are currently 30,058 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and of those, 949 people are in hospital and 136 are in ICU.

There are currently 1,781 active cases of COVID-19 in Island Health.
