Campbell River city council recently approved a 60-unit rental apartment building at 2221 Dalton Rd., near Miki's Sushi, in the Willow Point Village neighbourhood.

Another rental apartment building is coming to Campbell River’s Willow Point Village neighbourhood.

During a regular council meeting on Monday, City of Campbell River councillors unanimously approved a development permit application for a proposed five-storey, 60-unit rental apartment at 2221 Dalton Rd., near Miki’s Sushi, by WestUrban Developments Ltd. The company is now required to provide a $149,216 payment to the city for general landscaping and outdoor furniture before the development permit can be issued.

Designed by Thuja Architecture, the 19.5-metre tall apartment building would feature 25 one-bedroom units and 35 two-bedroom rental units.

A total of 90 parking stalls 48 regular — 12 visitor, 27 small car, and three accessible stalls — would also be provided, with the majority of stalls located underground. A 241 square-metre common space and bike parking would also be provided.

As part of the development, WestUrban plans to install a 1.8-metre long sidewalk and a 2.0-metre long boulevard from the property to Westgate Road and along the south side of Westgate Road to where the existing sidewalk begins.

The company also plans to install a crosswalk at the intersection of Westgate and Dalton roads.

The project is WestUrban’s third apartment building in the area in recent years. The company has previously constructed apartments at 2036 South Island Highway and 2338 South Island Highway, both of which are less than 700 metres from Dalton Road.

It isn’t clear when construction could begin.
