Mounties in Ladysmith are seeking witnesses following a two-vehicle collision that injured four people, including some who were seriously hurt.

Ladysmith RCMP says officers responded to the crash at the intersection of Esplanade Avenue and Roberts Street around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 2.

Once on scene, officers learned that a blue Dodge Grand Caravan had been travelling southbound on Esplanade, while a white Pontiac Sunfire had been going northbound when the two vehicles collided. The impact of the crash caused the Sunfire to then collide with a traffic pole.

Four people were hurt, says RCMP.

“Both drivers and their passengers were transported to hospital by ambulance to be treated for injuries, ranging from minor to serious,” said police in a news release Wednesday.

An RCMP spokesperson tells CHEK News that investigators are not releasing further information, including who they believe caused the collision.

They don’t want to “influence or taint the memory of other potential witnesses,” the spokesperson says.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to call Ladysmith RCMP at 250-245-2215.

According to ICBC crash data, 53 vehicle collisions at that intersection resulted in injury or death between 2018 and 2022.
