15-year-old arrested after attempt to steal e-bike at a Langford home

West Shore RCMP says a 15-year-old male was arrested early Sunday morning attempting to steal an electric bike from a home in Langford.

Police responded around 1:50 a.m. to a report of a break and enter near the 1000-block of Jenkins Avenue.

The homeowner told officers they were woken up by noises from the garage and found the male suspect on their driveway trying to wheel away their e-bike.

RCMP says the suspect told the homeowner to stay away as they had a knife, but was chased away from the home.

Attending officers were in the area shortly after being called and found the suspect, who was arrested for break and enter, uttering threats, theft and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

Police says the suspect was in breach of conditions by not abiding by a court-imposed curfew and weapons ban.

The homeowner wan not injured and West Shore RCMP says the investigation continues.
