WATCH: Made-in-B.C. electric-powered log car holds Guinness World Record for being the fastest car of its kind
An amazing, made-in-B.C. invention rolled into Victoria Wednesday.
The world’s fastest, electric-powered log car was on display at the B.C. Legislature.
The car holds the Guinness Book of World Records title for world’s fastest electric log car.
So far, it’s the only entry in that category, but it is capable of hitting 90 kilometers an hour.
It’s called the ‘Cedar Rocket’ and it was made from a single tree trunk by Williams Lake log home builder Bryan Reid.
Reid says the idea for the log car started with a conversation at a car show.
“A couple of years ago a mechanic a turbine manufacture and me, a log builder were standing at a car show in Arizona and what came out of it was we should put a chassis under a log and power it with turbines, so is the result of what we did,”says Bryan Reid of Pioneer Log Homes.
The Cedar Rocket will eventually be auctioned off with the proceeds going to support both American and Canadian veterans groups.
