One woman was sent to hospital after a single vehicle accident in the 14-hundred block of Finlayson Street around noon Friday
A woman was taken to hospital after single vehicle crash on a busy Saanich street about lunch time Friday.
The crash happened in the 1400 block of Finlayson at about 11:30.
The female driver of the car had a medical problem which caused her to lose control.
The vehicle swerved across the east bound lanes and smashed into a utility pole.
The force of the impact was so great that the driver was trapped inside the vehicle for a time.
There were no other vehicles or pedestrians involved.
“We were really lucky this time, the traffic was heavy, the car crossed into oncoming traffic and made no contact with any of the eastbound cars and thankfully there was no pedestrians that were in the way at the time,” says Sgt. Ron Cronk of Saanich Police.
Police say the driver was conscious, alert and talkative as firefighters from Victoria and Saanich departments carefully removed her from the wreckage.
She was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
