A wolf advisory is in place as of today for the entire Long Beach Unit of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve between Ucluelet and Tofino.
Park officials issued the warning after seeing an increase in wolf encounters with both people and pets over the past month.
That includes watching, approaching and following people and attacks and near attacks on off-leash dogs.
The advisory is part of a larger strategy and is intended to inform park visitors of the current levels of wolf activity in the Park, provide them with information on what to do if they encounter a wolf, and how they can report any incidents.
The overall goal is to reduce the likelihood of close encounters with wolves, prevent further habituation, and reduce opportunities for food conditioning.
