Update: Windstorm fatality
The BC Coroner confirms a Port Moody woman has been killed by a falling tree during the windstorm this morning.
No other details about the death have been released by officials.
Wind warning update:
The wind warning has been lifted for Vancouver Island but continued for other parts of the South Coast.
Strong southerly winds with gusts up to 90 km/h are occurring over southeastern sections of Metro Vancouver and the Western Fraser Valley.
Winds are expected to ease to southwest 40 gusting to 60 km/h near noon.
BC Hydro outage update:
96,000 households and businesses on the South Coast remain without power due to the storm.
7,600 of those without power are on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, where the storm began last night.

Update: BC Ferries
The storm has led to ferry delays on the Duke Point – Tsawwassen route and cancellation of the first ferry between Comox and Powell River.
