Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for West Vancouver Island and Greater Victoria
The Weather Office says strong winds that may cause damage are occurring along the west coast of Vancouver Island with the passage of a cold front.
Winds near 80 km/h will gradually ease overnight.
As the front crosses Southern Vancouver Island, westerly winds of 70 km/h are forecast for areas of Greater Victoria near Juan de Fuca Strait.
These winds are expected to ease later this evening.
