Coastal Fire Centre says 6.5 hectare wildfire burning in logging area south of Roberts Lake
The fire is burning two kilometres south of Roberts Lake in a logging area with harvested timber.
A Coastal Fire Centre spokesperson said it was reported Tuesday afternoon and had grown to 6.5 hectares by evening.
The fire is visible from Highway 19.
There are 26 firefighters and three pieces of heavy equipment working the fire and two helicopters were on scene earlier.
There’s no word yet on what caused the fire, but no structures are at risk.
Officials say there is good moisture in the area and the fire danger rating in the area is low to moderate.
