June 30th marks 12 years since 21-year-old Lisa Marie Young was last seen.
On Saturday afternoon friends and family gathered in Nanaimo to remember and raise awareness about Lisa’s life.
“We do this for Lisa every year,” says her mother, Joanne Young, “To keep the awareness out that she’s still missing.”
Several dozen people attended a vigil at Maffeo-Sutton Park.
On June 29th of 2002 Lisa went out with friends to a night club in downtown Nanaimo. As they left they met a man who owned a red Jaguar. They went to a house party. In the early morning hours of May 30th Lisa and the driver left the party to get a bite to eat but she wasn’t seen after that.
She called a friend at the party on her cell phone concerned that the guy wasn’t bringing her back to the party.
Nanaimo RCMP have interviewed that driver and reviewed many tips but have not been able to solve what happened to Lisa.
