Victoria’s snake saga has come to an end.
The 5ft long corn snake, spotted last week in a storm pipe under the intersection of Balmoral and Quadra, has been caught.
The City of Victoria tonight posted a photo on social media of a staff member holding the snake with a caption that reads,
“It’s official, no more snake in the drain. The snake has been sssssafely caught.”
City of Victoria crews made the spine-tingling discovery in a city storm pipe last week.
They were investigating a potential sinkhole when their cameras came face to face with the large snake.
It had recently moulted, leaving behind its skin in the very place where crews had been trying in vain to capture it.
That, according to experts, would also see it become more active and easier to catch.
Tonight, that prediction proved true and the so-called “snake in the drain” is back above ground.
No word yet on the future holds for Victoria’s most renowned reptile.
