There were tense moments in a Victoria neighbourhood Saturday as police responded to two high risk calls a short distance apart.
An incident in the heart of Quadra Village saw heavily armed police officers brought in.
The call came in around 9am. Police say someone found what appeared to be a bullet hole in their wall inside an apartment building above a marijuana business at the corner of Kings Road and Quadra Street.
Officers weren’t taking any chances. The Emergency Response Team was called in, shutting down Kings between Quadra and Fifth Street.
Police remained on scene for much of the day and evacuated tenants from the building, but later determined the man they were looking for had left the city. He was arrested by Calgary Police.
Meanwhile, just after 7am, Victoria Police and Saanich Police were called to another apartment building not far away, at the corner of Hillside and Blackwood.
They were responding to reports of distraught man who may have had a firearm. The man was apprehended and taken to hospital.
