Growing concern over drones and unmanned aerial vehicles in Victoria has prompted signs going up to announce a no drone zone
Signs have gone up around Victoria’s Inner Harbour warning people that it’s a ‘no drone zone.’
There’s growing concern drones and UAVs being flown over the Harbour could interfere with float plane traffic and lead to a potentially dangerous situation.
With drones gaining in popularity, we’re seeing more drone conflicts and the concern is especially high at airports.
The busy Victoria Harbour airport is no exception.
Transport Canada has put up these new ‘no drone zone’ signs, warning people that you can’t fly a drone within a nine kilometre radius of the harbour airport without permission.
Transport Canada says all drone users must be aware of the regulations and follow them.
Not doing so could result in up to $25,000 in fines and/or jail time.
