A downtown Victoria eatery is looking to beat out 34 others from across the country to win the title of Canada’s best new restaurant.
Agrius by Fol Epi on Yates Street is the only Vancouver Island restaurant to make the preliminary list of 35 for the enRoute Magazine competition.
They were chosen by a panel of food and hospitality industry leaders.
Agrius, opened at the end of 2015, is the first from Fol Epi bakery founder Cliff Leir and is described as a contemporary regional restaurant inspired by French cuisine.
The bakery occupies the front of the street-level space in the Era Building with the 36-seat restaurant in the back.
Montreal leads the way with 8 entries, followed by Toronto and Vancouver.
A top ten will be revealed in the Fall and you can also vote in the people’s choice awards at eatandvote.com
