Vancouver Island may only be Canada’s 11th largest island but it takes top spot in a new reader survey.
In an on-line poll conducted by Travel + Leisure Magazine, Vancouver Island beat out Cape Breton and PEI to take top spot for a second straight year.
One reader says, “from wilderness to the culture of Victoria, the island offers a wide range of activities in a small locale.”
and T + L writes “for those undeterred by the possibility of storms or persistent fog, Vancouver Island is an incredibly rewarding — and deeply Canadian — destination.”
Vancouver Island did not make the survey’s global top 10 where Palawan in the Philippines took first place.
Victoria was voted third best city in Canada trailing only Vancouver and Quebec City.
Voters said of the Quebec capital that few cities bring together Old World and New World quite so beautifully.
Every year for the World’s Best Awards Survey, T +L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the glob and to share their opinions on the top cities, islands, cruise lines, spas, airlines, and more.
