30-year-old Colby Messer of Greater Victoria attended a preliminary hearing where a judge decided to proceed with two counts of sexual assault
A Greater Victoria man charged in a shocking case of group sexual assault in Denver was back in court today.
A judge has determined there’s enough evidence to proceed on two of the charges.
30-year-old Colby Messer was arrested in March as he was trying to cross the border to propose to his girlfriend.
He was charged with six counts of sexual assault in connection with a violent incident involving a 27-year-old woman at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Denver last November.
The preliminary hearing wrapped up today and a judge has found there’s probable cause to proceed with two of the six counts of sexual assault.
The other four counts were dismissed.
Messer will be arraigned and enter his plea in October.
