WATCH: Saanich Police are investigating after online threats lead to the lockdown of two Saanich schools
Two Saanich schools were locked-down Monday, as a result of online threats.
Spectrum Community School and Marigold Elementary students were told to stay indoors at about 10:00 a.m. after receiving word of threats through social media.
Police were called and remained on scene for several hours, while staff and students stayed inside.
“The threats are very vague in nature and we’re trying to verify exactly what those threats are,” said Sgt. Jereme Leslie with Saanich Police. “We know who has made the threats and our officers are investigating right now.”
Police said it was a school district decision to lock down the schools.
The situation returned to normal at Spectrum and Marigold by early afternoon.
