Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will spend much of the long weekend on Vancouver Island.

His visit to the Island began Friday night in Victoria, where he and his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau spoke to a group of federal Liberal Party supporters at the Ocean Point Resort Hotel.

Trudeau will start Saturday morning in Sidney, kayaking off the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve.

By Saturday afternoon, he will be in Tofino where he is set to speak will locals, including indigenous leaders, during a roundtable.

There are no other stops listed on the Prime Minister’s itinerary for Saturday night or for Sunday, which could mean he’ll be vacationing with his wife on the Island for the remainder of the weekend.

The last time Trudeau was in the Capital Region was back in March when he made a brief appearance at CFB Esquimalt and at Victoria City Hall.
