Quadra Street had to be shutdown after a spectacular three car crash this morning
Saanich Police said a Nissan Pathfinder was headed northbound in the 4000-block of Quadra Street near Nicholson and McBriar Avenue around 10:30am when the driver lost control and rear-ended another vehicle.
A third vehicle then hit the car that was rear-ended causing the first car to smash into a utility pole, shearing it off.
“One of the vehicles, there was a medical emergency, struck the other vehicles and severed a power pole so we’ve closed the road due to the power lines,” said Deputy Chief Steven Hannah.
The driver with the medical issue was taken to hospital.
“This guy rotated after hitting the utility pole. He did a 360 degree rollover and Quadra Street carries a lot of pedestrians and cycling traffic so we got very lucky today with no serious injuries,” said Sergeant John Price.
BC Hydro was called out to fix the downed line.
The road was closed for more than two hours.
