25 year-old Willem Rennie has not been seen since last Tuesday.
“Your son really misses you and we love you so much” said Hannah Rennie as she addressed media at a press conference Wednesday.
Her brother Willem Rennie, father of a one year-old son has not been seen since Tuesday April 19 and is the subject of an RCMP missing persons file.
His mother and three of four sisters gathered at the Comox Valley RCMP detachment in Courtenay to appeal to the public for help in finding Willem.
“And none of his friends that we know have seen or heard from him since he’s been gone so it makes us very worried” added Hannah Rennie.
His vehicle was found Friday in the parking lot of the Comox Valley Exhibition grounds and on Saturday a major search began involving teams from across the mid and north island.
Divers were in the waters of the nearby Tsolum and Puntledge Rivers looking for any sign of him, dog teams were in the woods near his north Courtenay home and a helicopter was called in to assist in the search as well.
“He was supposed to meet up with a friend on Tuesday at noon but the friend was late and when she got there he wasn’t there” said Hannah Rennie.
“At this point we’re treating this as a missing person and our focus is to locate him and have him return safe so that’s why we’re sending out a plea to the public certainly for any information. If anyone has information to please come forward and again if they wish to remain anonymous they can go through the Crime Stoppers line” said Comox Valley RCMP Constable Tammy Douglas.
“This message is for Willem, If you by chance see this will you please, just please contact us? We need to know that you are safe” pleaded Hannah Rennie.
If anyone has information about Willem Rennie, you should call the Comox Valley RCMP or Crime stoppers.
