The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is investigating a suspicious death on Salt Spring Island.
Salt Spring RCMP were called to Richard Flack Road at around 4:20 am Friday after reports of a fight.
Police found a 36-year old man unresponsive.
CPR was being performed by two other men, one of them was suffering from non-life threatening injuries.
Officers continued CPR until Emergency Health Services arrived and all parties were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Shortly after arriving there, the 36-year old man was pronounced dead.
Police believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no danger to the public.
No charges have been laid.
The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia has also been notified and will investigate if police actions were in any way connected to the man’s death.
