Unionized care workers at Selkirk Seniors Village in Victoria to take strike vote Tuesday after contract talks broke down in June
Unionized workers at a Victoria seniors home will take a vote on potential strike action Tuesday.
Care workers at Selkirk Seniors Village saw their last collective agreement expire in September last year.
The Hospital Employees Union says talks with the owner, Retirement Concepts broke off in June, leading the union to decide to take a strike vote tomorrow.
The union says wages are the key issue, and care staff at the facility haven’t had a raise since it opened in 2008.
Results of the vote are expected after 5pm Tuesday.
