NBA great and Victoria’s Steve Nash honoured with Order of Canada
2-time NBA Most Valuable Player Steve Nash received the Order of Canada in the nation’s capital today.
The former St. Michaels Blue Jag received his award from Governor General David Johnston at Rideau Hall.
Nash was one of 48 recipients invested into the Order.
“His exceptional commitment to the game of basketball and the welfare of children has made him an inspirational leader and role model for youth,” a statement said.
He played 18 seasons with the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.
Nash retired two years ago after growing back pains and inability to stay healthy.
The Steve Nash Foundation is focused on helping under privileged children in Canada, the U.S. and Paraguay.
