A tradition left decades in the past was brought back to life in Port Alberni Saturday. Shaking kids free of cellphones and Pokemon go, to take part in an old fashioned soap box race last seen on that community’s steep streets in 1977.
Kids and screeching tires shut down the main street of Downtown Port Alberni as the past of the west coast town was brought back
to thrilling life for a day. The old soap box cars that occupied kids decades ago returned to race in a massive display of nostalgia.
Organized by he Kinsmen Club of Port Alberni, the city now plans to make this ride down memory lane an annual event.
